The best WordPress themes have premium customer services, high performing SEO features, regular updates, quality code, and companies that will be around for a long time.
While it may be both tempting and overwhelming to search Themeforest and pick a theme based on looks alone, be careful of free themes, bundled features, and poor reviews.
Here are some common mistakes to avoid:
- Be careful about buying from an independent theme provider: While I am all for supporting freelance creatives, independent theme developers don’t have as much stock in their company. I’ve had them soloprenure theme providers that just disappear from the internet leaving you with a theme that can no longer be updated (and will start to break). Big companies have so many people using their themes, they have to stick around for the long haul!
- Avoid themes with bundled features built into the theme itself: It may seem easier to buy a theme with the bundled features you need. However, these bundled features tend to be limiting and will keep you from installing other plugins that could offer you the same feature with more robust options. Buy simple themes that you can bundle yourself.
- Customer Service and Reviews: Always check the reviews and make sure the theme is being updated regularly. Some theme providers come with excellent customer service, and some don’t. Bad customer service may include slow response time, defensive responses, and lack of assistance.
- Try to avoid free WordPress Themes: I recommend spending a little bit of money on a theme because it is well worth the premium benefits. The themes listed below are under $200 (most of them even under $100 or $50).

It is the best-selling Elementor theme on Themeforest, performs extremely well on SEO and Page Speed comes with 1-click demo installation options, works great with WooCommerce, and much more. Divi—The Ultimate WordPress Theme and Visual Page Builder
Divi is one of the all-time most popular themes. It was one of the first to create a front-facing visual builder.
