Natures Oasis Market is a premium natural grocery store located in Durango Colorado. Serving Southwest Colorado for over 20 years, this natural market provides fresh produce and supplements to the Four Corners Region. Located inside the store is a full-service deli, Jack’s Meat Market, River Liquors, and Serious Delights Bakery.
When we began work on this website, the top priorities were ease of use on both the front-end and the back-end. It was critical that the daily deli specials were not only featured, but that the staff members could easily maintain these edits each day.
We chose Squarespace as a platform so that the handoff to staff would be seamless without ongoing development fees or software updates.
However, this custom website included a number of robust business features. Included were pop up windows, a custom mega menu, homepage slider, and a secondary top navigation for store information. Since most website visitors were locals looking for deli specials, or tourists looking for location and hours, this website needed to offer quick “grab and go” information.
The front-end aspects were just the beginning. We also integrated an automated deli special and newsletter feed directly into Mailchimp. This would allow staff to enter information into the website and have it fire to the email list without a manual campaign. On the homepage and departments page we utilized a global section so staff members would only need to enter monthly grocery specials in one location.
From design perspective, the layout and branding of this website was full-width with neutral-warm colors and relaxed textures. It was important to Natures Oasis to avoid large amounts of un-inviting white space and/or corporate layouts and colors. This website is a shining example of how the Squarespace platform can serve small businesses.
